Lean Whey is also formulated with upper-tier protein sources in a matrix that includes isolate and hydrolyzed whey protein, with both sources being openly displayed, allowing you to know exactly how much protein you are getting. Lean Whey isn't just your standard whey protein though, as this is formulated with ingredients aimed at fat metabolism, hence the name Lean Whey. Also included are digestive enzymes to aid in the breakdown and absorption of the protein, that can also aid with minimizing any bloating or stomach discomfort. I am a big fan of companies and products who fully disclose their protein, so thumbs up to MuscleSport for that. Now, the big question....how does it taste??? Let me preface this part with the fact that I am not a big fan of overly sweet proteins. I am actually a fan of basic vanilla's (when done right) over the more flashy, themed protein flavors. In my opinion, rarely does the flavor of the protein live up to the flavor title and I am left chasing the taste and end up disappointed. It should be known that everyone's preferences and tastes are different, so take this with a grain of salt. I am specifically reviewing Vanilla Ice Cream and Black Forest and right at the top, I did not like the vanilla at all. I was unable to taste that true vanilla flavor and I found this to be more chemically based and not very sweet. I was really disappointed, because I love vanilla ice cream and MuscleSPort is known for their flavors but this one was unenjoyable and I had a hard time finishing the bottle. In contrast, Black Forest was definitely more sweet and robust in flavor, as it should be, given the flavor profile it was going for. You definitely get the chocolate which is smooth and good, then you are hit with the "cherry on top" but I found that cherry to be a bit too chemically for my liking. I loved the big chunks of inclusions and they tasted great! While it was easy to finish each shake and tub, the chemical nature of the cherry really stood out to me. And to me, this was just a bit too sweet. Adding more water doesn't necessarily help, because then you are left with watery protein, which just isn't good. Overall, I do think Lean Whey is a very cool protein, with a great eye for formulation, along with great manufacturing and a history of unique flavors. I can't really speak to the effects of the fat burning aspect, because theres ust too many factors to consider. If you like sweet proteins and unique flavor optoins then this is for you. Coming in at $2 a serving before discounts, this is definitely a more expensive option. I am open to trying more flavors, because some of those sound so interesting that I just have to try them, but I will know to temper my expectations a bit. I definitely would still recommend this protein, especially for the sweet toothers out there.
